Major Reshuffle in Top Police Positions

News Desk: A major reshuffle has been made in the Bangladesh Police, involving the positions of police commissioners, range deputy inspectors general (DIGs), district police superintendents (SPs), and deputy commissioners (DCs). Through four separate notifications issued by the Police-1 Branch of the Ministry of Home Affairs, 23 officers from the Bangladesh Civil Service (Police) cadre have been transferred and posted to new positions.

The orders were issued on Wednesday (August 12) through notifications signed by Towsif Ahmed, Deputy Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs, on behalf of the President. The notifications stated that the orders, issued in the public interest, would take effect immediately.

According to the separate notifications, Mohammad Abdul Mabud, Commissioner (DIG) of Rangpur Metropolitan Police, has been appointed DIG of the Rangpur Range. Md. Zulfikar Ali Haider, DIG of the Industrial Police, has been appointed DIG of the Barishal Range. Dr. Kaniz Hossain Jahan, Superintendent of Police (SP) of the Metro Rail Transit (MRT) Police, has been appointed SP of the National Police Bureau of Bangladesh (NPB).

Md. Saleh Uddin, Additional DIG of the Rapid Action Battalion (RAB), has been transferred to the Highway Police as Additional DIG, while Mir Modasser Hossain, Additional DIG of the Highway Police, has been transferred to the Bangladesh Police Academy (BPA) in Sarda, Rajshahi, as Additional DIG.

Significant changes have also been made at the district level. Mohammad Jasim Uddin, SP of Kushtia, has been appointed SP of Gazipur. Md. Aminul Islam, SP at the office of the DIG of Sylhet Range, has been appointed SP of Kushtia, while Sarkar Omar Faruk, SP of the Police Staff College, has been appointed SP of Khulna. The current SP of Khulna, Mohammad Tajul Islam, has been transferred to the Armed Police Battalion (APBN).
