News Desk: Prime Minister Tareque Rahman said that a plan for what the country's electricity and energy system will look like over the next 10 years will be presented in Parliament. Some people have been trying to spread confusion about the issue for some time. To them, I say that the BNP government will present the plan in Parliament. If you have a plan, present it to the people; but do not disrupt peace and order in the country by making misleading statements. It has been 50 years since the country's independence. Now is the time to work for the people. It is time to work for nation-building.

He said that although many countries gained independence after us, they have progressed through hard work. We can no longer remain behind. We must improve the people's standard of living and the country's fortunes. The plan I have adopted is in the interest of the people. If it is right, it must receive support.

Prime Minister Tareque Rahman said this at a rally held on Sunday (August 9) at the sea beach in Baharchhara Union of Banshkhali, Chattogram.

Tareque Rahman said that during the previous authoritarian regime, the country's energy and electricity sectors had been handed over to a handful of individuals. Various plans were taken to serve their interests, which were not in the interest of the people of the country. Now, some time is needed to reorganize the energy and electricity system in a planned manner in the interest of the people. We have already started that work. According to the plan, electricity supply will be ensured to schools and colleges, hospitals, industries and homes across the country. At the same time, the necessary gas supply for vehicles will also be arranged.

Tareque Rahman said that we have given a huge area in Anwara to China. I recently returned from China and spoke with them. They will establish several hundred mills and factories there, and InshaAllah, people from across Chattogram will have the opportunity to work in these mills and factories. This will, on the one hand, help solve the unemployment problem and, at the same time, earn foreign currency.

He said that 4.1 million mothers will be provided with Family Cards in the current fiscal year. In this upazila, 10,000 to 12,000 families will receive the cards.

He further said that alongside the Family Card, we have also arranged for Farmer Cards. It is not only those who cultivate rice, jute, vegetables or other crops who will receive Farmer Cards. InshaAllah, our brothers who are salt farmers will also receive Farmer Cards.

He further said that there has been a proposal to fix the price of salt. After discussions, we have, InshaAllah, determined the price of salt. At a price that will enable our salt-farming brothers to become self-reliant and economically solvent. Gradually, InshaAllah, we will announce that price to everyone within the next few days. As a result, our salt farmers will no longer have to suffer as they did in the past. At the rally, the Prime Minister announced that the upazila hospital would be upgraded to a 101-bed facility.

Also speaking at the event were Finance and Planning Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Home Minister Salahuddin Ahmed, Chattogram-13 (Patiya) Member of Parliament Enamul Haque, Chattogram-9 (Kotwali) Member of Parliament Abu Sufian, Chattogram-13 (Chandanaish) MP Md. Jasim Uddin, Anwara MP Sawab Zaman Nizam, Bandarban MP Saching Prue Jerry, Chattogram South District BNP Convener Idris Mia, Joint Convener Lion Helal Uddin, former Convener of Chattogram South District Banshkhali Upazila BNP Master Lokman, former Chairman of Bailchhari Union Ibrahim Bin Khalil, APP Nasir Uddin, Upazila Jubo Dal Convener Abu Ahmed, among others.
