Benapole Correspondent: A 24-day-old son of a woman has been stolen from Bagamchara in Sharsha, Jessore by pretending to be an NGO worker. The incident took place at around 11:30 am on Wednesday at Rifat Hotel in Bagamchara Bazar of Sharsha Upazila.

Video footage showed a woman carrying the baby, but could not be identified as she was wearing a burqa and a face mask. The matter was reported to the Sharjah police but so far the thief has not been identified and the child has not been rescued. Jannatul Begum, mother of the stolen child Tasin, lives in Rudrapur village of Kayba union of Bari upazila.

She is the wife of Ashraful of that village. Jannatul, the mother of the child, said that 15/20 days ago, an unidentified female NGO worker, who did not know her name and address, showed her the temptation to go to their house and get a pregnancy card. According to the report, the unidentified woman went to Ashraful's house and brought Tasin's mother and grandfather to Bagamchara Bazaar on Wednesday morning to pay Tk 30,000.

At one point, when they both entered the Rifat Hotel in Bagamchara Bazar for breakfast, an unidentified woman made Tasin's mother and grandfather sit at the breakfast table for breakfast and the child took Tasin to her and managed to escape from the hotel. The woman and her child were not found after searching the area around the hotel and the main roads.

Uttam Kumar, officer-in-charge of the Bagamchara police investigation center, said the unidentified woman was seen in the video footage. Could not be identified. Police are searching in different places. I hope I can rescue the baby soon.
