Measles outbreak claims 8 more child lives amid rising symptoms

News Desk: In the last 24 hours, eight more children have died across the country due to measles infection and related complications.
The information was shared on Thursday (April 16) in a regular bulletin issued by the Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the DGHS, among the eight deceased children, two died directly from measles infection, while the remaining six died due to severe complications associated with measles symptoms.
Analysis of DGHS data shows that the measles situation in the country has worsened significantly since March 15. During this period, 34 people have died confirmed from measles infection, while suspected deaths due to measles-like symptoms have reached 172.
In the past month alone, 3,065 people have been confirmed infected with measles, while suspected cases have risen to 20,352.
Due to the outbreak, patient pressure has increased several times in both government and private hospitals. So far, 13,129 patients with measles symptoms have been admitted to hospitals. Of them, 10,496 have recovered and returned home after treatment, while a large number of patients are still receiving care in isolation wards.
