In the past 24 hours, 10 people have died across the country after being infected with dengue fever, transmitted by the Aedes mosquito. During the same period, 1,069 new patients have been admitted to hospitals.
According to data from the Directorate General of Health Services’ (DGHS) Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room’s dengue dashboard released on Wednesday, Dhaka South City Corporation recorded the highest number of deaths — five. Three deaths occurred in Dhaka North City, while one death each was reported in Barishal and Khulna divisions.
The dashboard further revealed that four of the deceased were under 20 years old, while another four were over 40. Among the deceased, five were men and five were women.
Of the 1,069 new hospital admissions, 58 were children under the age of five. The highest number of patients were young adults aged between 21 and 25.
So far this week, 24 people have died of dengue, and 4,479 have been hospitalized with the disease.
