News Desk: Over the past 24 hours, three people have died from dengue fever, transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes, across the country. During this period, 782 patients were admitted to hospitals.
With these new cases, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 215, while the total number of confirmed cases has reached 50,689.
The Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) shared this update in their regular dengue bulletin on Monday, October 6.
According to the health department, the number of hospital admissions in the last 24 hours includes:
Barishal Division: 174
Chattogram Division: 83
Dhaka Division: 145
Dhaka North City Corporation: 118
Dhaka South City Corporation: 90
Khulna Division: 57
Mymensingh Division: 35
Rajshahi Division: 64
Rangpur Division: 11
Sylhet Division: 5
Of the three deaths reported in the past day, two occurred in Dhaka South City Corporation and one in Khulna Division.
During the same period, 745 dengue patients were discharged from hospitals, bringing the total number of recoveries this year to 48,001.
For context, in 2024, a total of 101,214 people were infected with dengue in the country, resulting in 575 deaths. In 2023, the country witnessed its highest dengue fatalities, with 1,705 deaths and 321,179 hospital admissions due to the disease.
