Dengue, a mosquito-borne viral disease, has claimed two more lives in Bangladesh over the past 24 hours, bringing the total number of fatalities this year to 202, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
During the same period, 396 new patients were admitted to hospitals across the country, while 409 patients recovered and were released. The DGHS shared the updated figures in its routine press release on Thursday, covering data from Wednesday 8 a.m. to Thursday 8 a.m.
So far in 2025, a total of 48,228 patients have been hospitalized with dengue. Among them, 45,682 patients have fully recovered, while 2,546 patients are currently undergoing treatment at different hospitals.
The DGHS data shows that the monthly death toll has fluctuated:
January: 10 deaths
February: 3 deaths
March: no deaths
April: 7 deaths
May: 3 deaths
June: 19 deaths
July: 41 deaths
August: 39 deaths
September (till now): 76 deaths
First two days of October: 4 deaths
Health experts have repeatedly urged the public to remain cautious, as the outbreak continues to spread, especially during the monsoon and post-monsoon seasons when Aedes mosquitoes breed rapidly.
