News Desk: Dengue continues to claim lives in Bangladesh as six more people, including five women and one man, died from the mosquito-borne disease in the past 24 hours. During the same period, 667 new patients were admitted to different hospitals across the country with dengue fever.
The figures were confirmed in a report released on Thursday (18 September) by the Health Emergency Operations Center and Control Room under the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
According to the report, between Wednesday 8:00 am and Thursday 8:00 am, 241 patients were admitted to hospitals in Dhaka city, 108 in Barishal division, 102 in Dhaka division (outside the capital), 96 in Chattogram division, 38 in Rajshahi division, 37 in Khulna division, and 25 in Mymensingh division.
With the latest fatalities, the total number of dengue-related deaths this year has risen to 167, including 86 men and 81 women.
Since the beginning of 2025, a total of 40,461 dengue patients have been hospitalized nationwide, highlighting the continued public health threat posed by the disease.
