News Desk: Two more people have died of dengue fever across the country in the past 24 hours. In addition, 573 new patients have been admitted to hospitals with the disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) confirmed the figures in a bulletin on Monday (8 September). According to the report, of the patients admitted in the last 24 hours, 104 were from Barishal Division (outside the city corporation areas), 83 from Chattogram Division (outside city corporation areas), 73 from Dhaka North City Corporation, 80 from Dhaka South City Corporation, 31 from Khulna Division (outside city corporation areas), 14 from Mymensingh Division (outside city corporation areas), 44 from Rajshahi Division (outside city corporation areas), and one from Sylhet Division (outside city corporation areas).
From 1 January to 6 September this year, the number of dengue deaths has risen to 135, while total reported cases have reached 34,411.
Bangladesh recorded its highest number of hospitalizations from dengue in a single year in 2023, with 321,179 cases. In comparison, the figures were 101,211 in 2024, 62,382 in 2022, 28,429 in 2021, 1,405 in 2020, and 101,354 in 2019.
