In the last 24 hours, three more people have died from dengue across the country, while 473 patients have been admitted to different hospitals with the mosquito-borne disease.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), through its Health Emergency Operation Center and Control Room, confirmed the information in a press release on Tuesday.
According to the DGHS, among the three deceased, one was a resident of Dhaka South City Corporation, one from Chattogram Division, and one from Dhaka Division.
During the same period, 473 patients were hospitalized with dengue. Of them, 113 were admitted in Barishal Division, 81 in Chattogram Division, 76 in Dhaka Division, 53 in Dhaka North City Corporation, 83 in Dhaka South City Corporation, 10 in Mymensingh Division, 48 in Rajshahi Division, 7 in Rangpur Division, and 2 in Sylhet Division.
The DGHS further reported that since January this year, a total of 31,476 people have been hospitalized with dengue. This includes 1,161 in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, 1,773 in May, 5,951 in June, 10,684 in July, and 10,496 in August.
So far this year, 125 people have died from dengue. Monthly breakdown of deaths shows: 10 in January, 3 in February, 7 in April, 3 in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, and 39 in August.
