News Desk: Dhaka, the capital of Bangladesh, is currently ranked second in the list of cities in the world with the most air pollution.
Dhaka's air quality is at 'very unhealthy' level with an Air Quality Index (AQI) score of 208 at 8:15 am on Saturday (March 8).
Today, Lahore, Pakistan, tops the list of world cities with a score of 259.
Basically, an AQI score of 101 to 200 is considered 'unhealthy' for sensitive groups. On the other hand, an AQI score of 201 to 300 is considered 'very unhealthy'. An AQI score of 301 to 400 is considered 'hazardous'. This poses a serious health risk to residents.
Dhaka has long been plagued by air pollution. The city's air quality typically becomes unhealthy during the winter and improves slightly during the rainy season.
