1 killed in train crash in the capital

News Desk: Retired principal of Isbahani School and College Moghbazar Nirod Baran Roy, 60, died after being hit by a train at Karwan Bazar in the capital. The accident took place in Shuntki Patti area around 10 am on Thursday. He was rushed to the emergency department of Dhaka Medical College Hospital in critical condition after the accident. The on-duty doctor declared him dead at around 1pm. The deceased was identified as Nirod Baran Roy of Debapur in Kashiani upazila of Gopalganj. Father's name is Harnath Roy.

At present he lived with his family in Kalyanpur of the capital. It is learned that Nirod Baran Roy was walking towards Moghbazar by walking along the railway line in Karwan Bazar Shuntki Patti area. He was seriously injured when he was hit by a train leaving from Kamalapur. When he was rescued in a bloody condition and taken to Dhamme, the doctor declared him dead. DMEC hospital police camp in-charge (inspector) said. Bachchu Mia confirmed the matter and said that the body has been kept in Dhamek morgue for autopsy. The matter has been informed to the Railway Police Station.
