Quran recitation competition held in Sreepur

Sreepur (Gazipur) Representative:  The final round of Quran Recitation Competition-2024 was held in Sreepur, Gazipur on the occasion of holy month of Ramadan by the initiative of Alhaj Md Jahangir Alam Khokon Chairman Education Foundation.

The final round of the competition was held on Thursday (April 4) at 10:30 am at Singardighi High School ground in Mauna Union of the upazila.

Alhaj Abdul Jalil, cultural affairs secretary of Gazipur District Awami League and former chairman of Sripur Upazila Parishad, was present as the chief guest in the presentation of teacher and journalist Solaiman Mohammad, chairman of Mauna Union Parishad No. 1, Alhaj Md. Jahangir Alam Khokon. In this final round, three judges decided the 1st, 2nd and 3rd places by giving numbers through contestants' voice, tajveed and various questions. The 1st place winner will be awarded Tk 30,000 in cash, the 2nd place winner will receive Tk 20,000 in cash and the third place winner will receive Tk 10,000 in cash. Apart from this, the winners are given certificates, medals and crests. The remaining 7 participants were also given medals and consolation prizes. Muhaddis of Gazipur Ta'mirul Millat Kamil Madrasa Dr. Rafiqul Islam Al Madani was present as the chief judge.

It is known that 39 students from various madrasas of the upazila participated in this Quran recitation competition by publishing videos on the Voice of Sulayman Facebook page. The contest runs on the Voice of Sulayman Facebook page from 5th Ramadan to 19th Ramadan. Later, 10 contestants were selected for the final round based on the numbers given by the 3 judges. The selected 10 directly appeared at Singardighi High School and participated in the final round. At this time, devout Muslims appeared from far and wide and lost themselves in the melody of the Quran recitation of the contestants. The entire competition was broadcast live on the Voice of Sulayman Facebook page. Also present at this time were Singardighi High School Principal Suruj Zaman B.Sc., Mauna Union Parishad No. 8 Member Matiur Rahman, Mawana Union Awami Jubo League Former President Bajrul Rashid Swapan, Singardighi High School Former President Fazlul Haque Faraji, Mauna Union A.League Vice President. Samsul Alam Sarkar, Singardighi Ward No. 7 Member Matiur Rahman, Singardighi High School Assistant Principal Sharful Alam, Haji Chhota Kalim School and College Assistant Teacher Abdullah Al Imra along with teachers and students of various mosques and madrassas were present.

In the speech of the chief guest, Abdul Jalil said that the Qur'an is the guidance, welfare, peace and salvation of the human race. Recitation of the Qur'an leads to self-purification, the Qur'an elevates the human being. Chairman Jahangir Alam Khokon said in the speech of the president, this is the first event. We want to organize this competition in upazila or district wise in the future.
