News Desk: Due to heavy fog, ferry services on Daulatdia-Paturia, Banglabazar-Shimulia and Chandpur-Shariatpur waterways have been suspended. Passengers and drivers of vehicles stranded on the river bank for a long time are suffering due to this severe winter.

It is learned that the authorities stopped the ferry service on the Daulatdia-Paturia route around 10 pm on Tuesday due to heavy fog. This has created a long serial of vehicles in an area of about 8 km at the end of Daulatdia.

Hundreds of vehicles including passenger buses, private cars, microbuses and freight trucks have been stranded on the Daulatdia and Goaland junction roads waiting for the river crossing for a long time. Drivers and passengers have suffered from being stuck in the serial.

Meanwhile, ferry services on the Banglabazar-Shimulia waterway have also been suspended for the same reason. The ferry service was suspended on Tuesday (December 6) at around 11:15 pm. BIWTC's Banglabazar Ghat source has confirmed this information.

It is learned that after 10:30 pm, when the level of fog increased, the directional lights of the route became blurred. As a result, the ferries failed to determine the direction of the waterway. As a result, the ferry service was stopped from 11:15 am.

Besides, a roro ferry from Banglabazar left for Shimulia and anchored in the middle Padma due to fog.

BIWTC Banglabazar Ghat Manager. Salahuddin Ahmed said that the waterways are covered with thick fog. Nothing can be seen even at a short distance. Due to this, the ferry service has been stopped from 11:15 pm.

Besides, the ferry service on the Chandpur-Shariatpur route has also been stopped by the ghat authorities. Hundreds of vehicles including passenger buses, private cars, microbuses and freight trucks were stranded on the banks of the river. The drivers and passengers of these vehicles have suffered a lot.

The ferry service on the route was suspended on Tuesday (December 8) at around 10pm due to heavy fog in the Meghna River.

Earlier on Monday (December 6), the ferry service was suspended from 1 pm. However, the ferry service resumed later at 11 am on Tuesday.

Faisal Ahmed, manager of BIWTC Chandpur Harina Ghat, said the ferry service has been suspended since 10pm due to increased fog in the river. When the fog density decreases, the ferry service will resume.
