International Desk: A senior US Air Force officer was shot dead by police last week after breaking into his own apartment. A Florida police deputy sheriff's body camera video footage has been released amid growing pressure to demand justice in the incident. The footage shows Air Force veteran Roger Fortson, 23, answering the door of his apartment in the Florida panhandle and being shot by an Okaloosa County Sheriff's Office deputy. The video also shows Fortson holding a gun. Because of this, the police are claiming that they fired in self-defense. Fortson later died at the hospital. Citing an eyewitness relative of the victim's family, Roger's lawyer said that the police entered his house by mistake. However, the deputy police officer denied the allegation. He said he found Fortson armed after entering the house.

On May 3, the Air Force officer was shot inside his room. The incident site was 8 km from Florida. The name of the police officer who shot him has not been released. After this incident, he was sent on administrative leave. Okaloosa County Law Enforcement Chief Eric Eden said the police shooting will be investigated by Florida's law enforcement agency, the State Attorney's Office. He said that the incident will be investigated through transparency and accountability and will require a certain period of time.
