The newborn was crying in the paddy field

News Desk: Police have rescued a newborn (boy) from a paddy field in Kishoreganj upazila of Nilphamari. The newborn is currently undergoing treatment at a health complex.

The child was rescued from Dakshin Chandkhana Dahaban village in Chandkhana union of the upazila around 3pm on Thursday (November 19). The baby is now healthy, health officials said.

According to police and locals, Bishadu Mohant, a farmer from Dahaban village, heard a baby crying while harvesting paddy in a paddy field at around 3 pm. Going closer, he saw the newborn lying wrapped in cloth. He immediately informed his wife that the newborn had fallen. His wife Radha Rani Mohanty rushed to the spot and took the newborn in her arms. She came home with her husband with the newborn and informed the police.

Kishoreganj police got the news and admitted the newborn to the Upazila Health Complex. At present, the farmer's wife Radha Rani Mohant is staying at the health complex with the newborn.

Radha Rani Mohanty said, ‘I have a three and a half month old daughter. I am feeding the picked newborn. I have requested the police to give the child to me. I will raise him as my own child. '

Masud Rana, a doctor on duty at Kishoreganj Upazila Health Complex, said, "The one-day-old child was admitted to the health complex on Thursday afternoon. His physical condition is good, no problem. The baby is in the health complex until 2pm on Friday. A woman named Radha Rani is holding him in her mother's arms. '

Officer-in-charge of Kishoreganj Police Station Abdul Awal said, "The parents of the newborn are being searched, but they have not been found yet." A woman is guarding the child at the Upazila Health Complex. If someone wants to adopt a newborn, we can't give it. He has to be taken to court. '
