Swedish princess visited Ukhia Rohingya camp in Cox's Bazar

Cox's Bazar Correspondent: UNDP Goodwill Ambassador visiting Bangladesh and Princess Victoria of Sweden visited Ukhiya Rohingya Camp and Khurskul Shelter Project in Cox's Bazar. When she arrived at Ukhia Rohingya camp by helicopter from Bhasanchar at around 12 noon yesterday, she was welcomed by Cox's Bazar Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner Mizanur Rahman, District Administrator Muhammad Shaheen Imran, Superintendent of Police Mahafuzul Islam.

While visiting the Rohingya camp, she first went to the e-voucher outlet for registration and distribution of food by the World Food Program and UNHCR at Camp Four Extension. After visiting the activities there, spoke to the Rohingya women while visiting the Multi-Purpose Women's Center run by UN Women and UNFPA at Camp 4.

After that, while visiting the skill development training program conducted by UNHCR at Camp 5, observed a bakery shop and jute products processing activities and interacted with the women working there. Then the Swedish princess goes to Camp 10. There she visited a natural disaster management project run by UNDP. From there she visited the Rohingya Cultural Memory Center run by IOM. During this time, she was impressed by various aspects of Rohingya culture.

Then shortly before 4 pm, she visited the world's largest shelter project for climate refugees built from the Rohingya camp in Khuruskul, Cox's Bazar. Jatiya Sangsad Whip Saimum Sarwar Kamal was present at the time. After the visit yesterday afternoon, Sweden's Princess Victoria, UNDP's Goodwill Ambassador returned to Dhaka by air.
