Transport strike is going on in Rajshahi division for 10-point demand

News Desk: The transport strike has started in eight districts of Rajshahi division for an indefinite period from 6 am on Thursday due to the 10-point demand. General Secretary of Rajshahi Transport Owners Association Motiul Haque confirmed this information on Thursday (December 1) morning.

Before this, the strike was announced with an ultimatum till November 30 for the realization of 10-point demands in the meeting of Departmental Transport Owners-Labourers Unity Council in Natore last Saturday.

Meanwhile, the BNP leaders and activists complained that the leaders and activists could not attend their divisional rally in Rajshahi on December 3, hence the strike.

BNP organizing secretary Ruhul Quddus Talukder Dulu said, "A transport strike has been called so that the leaders and activists cannot come to the meeting".

In this regard, Rajshahi Transport Owners Association General Secretary Motiul Haque said that the strike was called with an ultimatum on 10-point demands, including stopping the movement of illegal vehicles like Nachimon, Karimon, Bhatavti on the highway. Their demands were not met within the stipulated time. Due to this, an indefinite strike has been called from 6 am on Thursday. All passenger and cargo transport will be covered by this strike.

It is to be noted that there is a departmental mass meeting of BNP on December 3 at the historical madrasa grounds (Hazi Muhammad Mohsin High School grounds) in Rajshahi. They were allowed to assemble there under eight conditions.

BNP has called this rally on nine demands including price of goods, load shedding, corruption, looting, restoration of voting rights, unconditional release of Begum Khaleda Zia. Earlier they held departmental mass meetings in Chittagong, Barisal, Rangpur, Sylhet, Comilla, Mymensingh and Khulna.

On the night of September 26, the virtual meeting of the National Standing Committee of BNP decided to hold mass meetings in all departments. BNP Acting Chairman Tarek Rahman presided over that meeting.

The first program was held in Chittagong on October 8. Then on October 15 in Mymensingh. BNP held a mass meeting in Khulna on October 22.

After that, the third phase of BNP's program will end with public meetings in Rangpur on October 29, Barisal on November 5, Faridpur on November 12, Sylhet on November 19, Comilla on November 26, Rajshahi on December 3 and Dhaka on December 10.
