Abdul Awal, Thakurgaon: Section 144 was again issued at the Sri Sri Rashik Roy Jiu Mandir in Auliapur area of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. Sadar Upazila Executive Officer Abu Taher Md. Samsuzzaman gave this order on Thursday. According to the administration and local sources, there has been a dispute between Sanatan and ISKCON followers of Hinduism for a long time regarding the possession of the land of Shri Rashik Rai Jiu Temple in Auliapur Union of Thakurgaon Sadar Upazila. On September 18, 2009, there was a major clash between followers of the Sanatan religion over Durga Puja at Rashik Rai Jiu Temple. At that time, a Sanatan Dharma follower named Phulbabu was killed in an attack by ISKCON devotees. After that, to bring the situation under control, the upazila administration sealed the temple and took the responsibility of managing the activities. On Thursday, Sanatan and ISKCON devotees of Sri Sri Rashik Ray Jiu Mandir were preparing for the Janmashtami Puja in the mandap. As a result, from 18 August 6 am to 20 August 12 pm, section 144 was ordered to be imposed in the temple and surrounding areas. To solve this problem, this matter was raised several times in the meeting of the District Law and Order Committee, but no solution was found. Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Abu Taher Md. Samsuzzaman said that there has been a long-standing dispute between the local Sanatan and ISKCON believers over the land of the temple. In 2009, casualties also occurred here. Section 144 has been issued fearing a repeat of the same incident and deterioration of law and order during Janmashtami Puja celebrations.
