Hours before the election, Gopalpur's Hemnagar and Jhawil UP elections were postponed

Md. Nur Alam, Gopalpur (Tangail): The election of Hemnagar and Union (UP) of Gopalpur Upazila has been postponed on June 15 to comply with the writ petition order of the High Court Division. Deputy Secretary of the Election Commissioner-2 on Tuesday. This information has been confirmed in two separate notifications signed by Atiyar Rahman. According to the notification, the Hon'ble Election Commission has decided to postpone the elections of Hemnagar and Jhawil Union Parishads. Upazila Election Officer and Returning Officer Nazma Sultana said the election of these two Union Parishads has been postponed by the order of the High Court. In the ninth phase, these two unions were to vote in the union council elections on Wednesday. District Election Officer AHM Kamrul Hasan said a man had filed a writ petition in the high court over the border issue of Hemnagar union in Gopalpur. During the hearing of the writ petition, the court ordered to postpone the union election. Following the court order, the Election Commission postponed the election of Hemnagar Union Parishad. The district election office has confirmed that it has received a letter from the Election Commission in this regard.
