Two people died when the bus hit them while they were praying

News Desk: Two people died in a road accident at Abhaynagar in Jessore. One of them was crushed by the wheel of a passenger bus while crossing the highway for prayers and another died on the way to the hospital.

The accident took place on Jessore-Khulna highway in front of Prembagh Government Primary School in Prembagh Union of the upazila on Thursday night. The deceased were identified as Abid Ali Mandal, 60, son of Akram Mandal of Bargachhi village under Paba upazila of Rajshahi district and Kubad Ali, 62, of the same village. The passengers of the bus said that they were returning to Rajshahi after a picnic in Mongla. The bus was stopped there for Esha prayers at around 8 pm. At that time, some passengers got off the bus for prayers and while crossing the highway, a Khulna-bound passenger bus crushed Abid Ali and Kubad Ali and left. Witnesses said that a person died on the spot after being crushed by the wheel of Khulna-bound Rupsha Paribahan (Jessore-B-11-0196) while getting off the picnic bus and crossing the road.

Nawapara Highway Police Officer-in-Charge (OC) Siddiqur Rahman told bdnews24.com that two passengers of a picnic bus died after being crushed by a bus in Prembagh area. The body has been recovered. The deadly bus was recovered from Changutia market. The driver, helper and supervisor escaped.
