In Sunamganj, a schoolgirl was poisoned to escape from Bakhat's torture

News Desk: A schoolgirl has tried to commit suicide by poisoning in Tahirpur of Sunamganj due to the harassment of Bakhat. After the incident, the schoolgirl is undergoing treatment at Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

On Sunday (February 14), the victim's father lodged a written complaint with the Tahirpur police station. The accused youth's name is Rakib Mia (20). He is the son of Ali Raja of Dakshinkul village in Balijuri union of the upazila. Police officer in charge (OC) on Sunday night.

Abdul Latif Tarafdar said that the police are working to arrest the accused. According to the written complaint, the son of Ali Raja of Dakshinkul village proposed to a girl studying in class VIII of a high school in the upazila. The student rejected his offer.

Later, he was sexually harassed in various ways for the last few months. Rakib's parents and family members could not control the quarrel even though the matter was discussed in the village 4 months ago. Later, Rakib used to send offensive text messages (SMS) to the schoolgirl's mother's mobile phone at different times.

He even informed the people of the village. Thus, the schoolgirl tried to commit suicide by poisoning her house on the night of February 12 as she could not bear the insults like quarrels and sexual harassment day after day.

When contacted on Sunday evening, Rakib's father Ali Raja said on his mobile phone, "My son is not at home at the moment." If the boy has committed any crime, let him be tried.
