News Desk: Bangladesh High Commissioner to Britain Saida Moon Tasneem has received the 'Women of the Decade in Public Life and Diplomacy Award'. She was given the award by the Women's Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industries (WICCI).
A statement from the embassy said Education Minister Dipu Moni handed over the virtual award to the ambassador on Sunday. She presented the award to High Commissioner Saida Muna Tasneem at the two-day Virtual Closing Ceremony of Women Entrepreneurs Summit-2021. Earlier, the President of Costa Rica and Malta and the Prime Minister of Canada and Australia received the Oman Chamber of Commerce and Industry Award.
Asian University Vice-Chancellor Cherry Blair and others were present at the virtual awards ceremony. Saida Muna Tasneem dedicates the award to grassroots women in Bangladesh who are working daily - in agriculture, garment industry, fisheries, construction, domestic work and as expatriate workers abroad.
The High Commissioner paid tribute to Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and noted that under her leadership, the country has been at the top of the World Economic Forum's 'Global Gender Geef Index' through the unprecedented empowerment of women over the past decade.
