Princess Victoria of Sweden arrived in Dhaka on a 4-day visit

News Desk: Sweden's Crown Princess Victoria has come to Dhaka on a four-day visit as a Goodwill Ambassador of the United Nations Development Program UNDP.

This is Princess Victoria's first visit to Bangladesh after being appointed as UNDP Goodwill Ambassador. She landed at Dhaka's Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Monday (March 18) around 9:30 AM.

She is accompanied by Sweden's Minister of International Development Cooperation and Foreign Trade Johan Forsel and UNDP Assistant Secretary General Ulrika Moder.

During her visit to Bangladesh, Princess Victoria of Sweden will review Bangladesh's development journey as well as climate change, gender equality, environment-friendly and digital transformation and the role of the business sector in the progress and ongoing challenges of SDG implementation.

According to the press release of UNDP, the Princess of Sweden will have a courtesy call on Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina during the visit. Besides, she will meet with senior government officials, young students and entrepreneurs, business leaders and representatives of various UN agencies.

During her visit to Bangladesh, Princess Victoria is scheduled to visit Cox's Bazar Rohingya camp as well as visit the displaced Rohingya in Bhasanchar. Besides, she will visit coastal Koira upazila near Sundarbans in Khulna.

According to information from the Swedish Embassy in Dhaka and UNDP, this is Princess Victoria's first visit to Bangladesh after being appointed as Goodwill Ambassador of UNDP in 2023. Before this, she visited Bangladesh in 2005.
