Iftar of AB party with politicians, diplomats in Gulshan

Online Desk:  AFM Solaiman Chowdhury, the convener of my Bangladesh Party-AB Party, said that the ongoing undemocratic governance system of the country is an extreme threat to freedom, sovereignty and human rights. All political parties must make a united and systematic movement in the struggle to establish peace and human rights in harmony with the democratic world.

He said these things at AB Party's iftar party in honor of politicians, diplomats and civil society representatives at a hotel in Gulshan in the capital on Saturday. 

Leaders of almost all the political parties boycotting the January 7 elections including BNP, diplomats of various countries working in Dhaka, civil society representatives participated in it.

AB Party Member Secretary Mojibur Rahman Manju moderated the iftar ceremony, joint convener of the party, Advocate Tajul Islam. Diplomats of various countries including United States, European Union, Australia, Pakistan, IRI delegation participated in it.

BNP National Standing Committee Member Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury, Revolutionary Workers Party General Secretary Saiful Haque, Gano Forum General Secretary Advocate Subrata Chowdhury, NDM's Bobby Hajjaz, Bangladesh Khilafat Majlis' Maulana Jalal Uddin, Bhasani Anusari Parishad's Sheikh Rafiqul Islam Bablu, Major General (Retd) Fazle Elahi Akbar, Former Member of Parliament Major (Retd) Akhtaruzzaman, Colonel of People's Rights Council (Retd) Mia Mashiuzzaman, Former Member of Parliament Ghulam Mawla Roni, Shahidullah Qaiser of Nagrik Oikya, Jebel Rahman Gani of NAP, Shama of BNP Obaid, former Member of Parliament Barrister Rumin Farhana, another member of the People's Rights Council Mohammad Rashed Khan and others.

Among the military and civilian bureaucrats present were former Army Chief of General Staff (CGS) Lt Gen (retd) Nazim Uddin, former Secretary Ismail Zabiullah, former Military Secretary to the President Major General (retd) Ehteshamul Haque, former Ambassador Sirajul Islam, military expert Lt. Colonel (Retd.) Didarul Alam, Lieut. Colonel (Retd.) Helal Uddin, Lieut. Colonel (retd) Nazim Uddin and Major (retd) Imran.

Representatives of civil society were present; Prominent political scientist Professor Dr. Dilara Chowdhury, Professor Dr. Mozaherul Haque, social organization Brati's Sharmin Murshid, barrister Mahbub Uddin Khokon of the Supreme Court Lawyers Association, economist Dr. Reza Kibria, Justice Faisal Mahmud Faizi, Dr. Mamun Ahmed and others.
