Human chain in protest of housewife's murder in Feni

Feni Correspondent: Teachers, students and locals of Rajapur Jafar Imam Birbikram High School in Daganbhuna Upazila staged a human chain and rally on Tuesday morning demanding arrest and trial of the killers of housewife Mahmuda Akter Shirin in Feni Rampur. The headmaster of the school SM Amin Ullah presided over the human chain and assembly. Rajapur Union Parishad Chairman ANM Kasedul Haque Babar, Rajapur Union Awami League President Mohammad Shahjahan, Master Abu Nasser, former student of the school Shirin's classmate Shahana Akter, UP member Salauddin and the deceased's sister Sultana spoke in solidarity.

A large number of people from different classes and professions of the area took part in expressing solidarity with the students. Speakers at the human chain and rally said that the housewife Shirin was killed by her husband's family members in a planned manner and an attempt was made to spread propaganda that it was suicide. The relatives of the deceased saw the marks of various injuries on the body and told the police that it was killed.

Police recovered the body from the spot and after an autopsy initially thought it was a premeditated murder. Shirin's father Ahidur Rahman filed a murder case with Feni Model Police Station. Though the police showed arrest of one person, 4 accused including Shaheen, the main accused in the case, were not arrested even after a week. Therefore, the speakers demanded exemplary punishment by arresting the other accused quickly.

A housewife named Mahmuda Akhter Shirin (23) died at Tanu Patwari's house near Manik Commissioner's house in Madhyam Rampur on Thursday evening. Mahmuda is the daughter-in-law of Ahidur Rahman and Aleya Begum of Chalu Bhuiyan Bari in West Ramchandrapur of Rajapur Union of Daganbhuiyan.
