Nilphamari Correspondent: A fire broke out at the office of the Railway Senior Engineer / Works (IW) at Syedpur in Nilphamari due to the fire used in the shooting of the movie. The fire broke out at 8 am on Saturday.

Later, the fire was brought under control after a two-hour effort by two units of Nilphamari Sadar and Uttara EPZ along with a unit of Syedpur City Fire Service. But before that, the concerned people claimed that the goods worth around five lakh rupees had been burnt. They said the fire destroyed important equipment and valuable assets of the office. In which there are various traditional items of the railway including the liberation war.

It is learned that a shooting team led by director Raihan Rafi from Dhaka was filming at different spots in Syedpur in collaboration with Channel I to make a documentary film (movie) on the liberation war called Damal. Following this, the shooting took place at the IW office premises last Friday. Standing at night, the group also lit a fire during a filming in the early hours of the morning. The fire suddenly spread to the godown adjacent to the office. The railway sleepers, railway quarters and unused wooden doors and windows of the bungalows, and tree trunks cut from the railway land at different times were burnt. Other traditional products, including hurricanes from the British period, have also been damaged by fire while being used for shooting purposes.

Senior Railway Engineer / Works (IW) Narayan Chandra said, "I gave the opportunity to the shooting team to film in my office premises as directed by the letter sent by the Divisional Superintendent (DS) of Syedpur Railway Factory, Joydul Islam." They did not have the necessary security arrangements (ambulance or fire brigade) for their shooting. So this fire started. About five lakh rupees worth of goods have been burnt.

Meanwhile, DS Joydul Islam visited the spot. He said compensation would be recovered from the shooting team. However, he declined to comment on the phone with Abu Saeed Emon, the producer of the shooting group.
