Strengthening Bilateral Relationship Between US and Bangladesh

Newsdesk: This weekend, the U.S. Embassy was thrilled to welcome Assistant Secretary for South and Central Asia Donald Lu to Bangladesh. During his three-day trip in Dhaka, Assistant Secretary Lu met with senior Bangladeshi officials including Foreign Minister AK Abdul Momen, State Minister Shahriar Alam, Foreign Secretary Masud Momen, and Advisor to the Prime Minister Salman Rahman to discuss strengthening our bilateral relationship. Assistant Secretary Don Lu also held discussions with Minister of Law Anisul Huq about protecting and expanding civic space in Bangladesh. He also met with Bangladeshi labor leaders to reaffirm the United States’ continued commitment with Bangladesh to their efforts to improve labor rights. Finally, the Assistant Secretary hosted a dinner with Ambassador Haas and listened to the experiences of human rights advocates who are critical to upholding people’s right to freedom and dignity.
