Prime Minister declared Panchagarh landless and homeless free district

Al Masud, Panchagarh: Panchagarh, the northernmost district of the country, wrote its name as the first landless and homeless district in the history of the country. Under the Prime Minister's special shelter scheme, 4 thousand 850 landless and homeless helpless people of the district got their own addresses. These families, who have been running to different parts of the district and taking shelter in other's land, are excited to get a house as a gift from the Prime Minister. The needy people expressed their gratitude and thanks to the prime minister after receiving the prime minister's gift of land and paved houses. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina declared Panchagarh a 100 percent landless and homeless free district by handing over the house keys to 62 landless and homeless families along with 200 acres of land in the Mahanpara shelter project of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila from Ganobhaban virtually at noon on Thursday (July 21). On the same day, 1,450 landless and homeless families in 43 unions of five upazilas of the district were given the house keys along with land. Minister of Railways Md. Nurul Islam Sujan, Member of Parliament of Panchagarh-1 Constituency Majaharul Haque Pradhan, Rangpur Divisional Commissioner Abdul Wahab Bhuiyan, Deputy Commissioner Zahurul Islam, Superintendent of Police Yusuf Ali, 18 BGB Captain Lt. Col. Mahfuzul at the event organized at the Mahanpara Shelter Project of Sadar Union of Panchagarh Sadar Upazila. Haque, district council administrator Anwar Sadat Samrat along with district and police administration and leaders of various political parties and social organizations were present. A total of 4 thousand 850 landless and homeless families in the district were gifted houses along with land under the Prime Minister's special shelter project in three phases.
