Two executed in Kishoreganj farmer murder case

News Desk: A court has sentenced two people to death and 13 to life imprisonment in the murder case of farmer Tajul Islam in Katiadi of Kishoreganj. At the same time, each accused was fined one lakh rupees. Monday (March 15) at 10 am, the district's first Additional District and Sessions Judge.

Abdur Rahim gave the verdict. State counsel Advocate Jageshwar Roy confirmed the information. Saiful Islam and Golap Mia, who was sentenced to death, and 11 others who were sentenced to life imprisonment were present in the court when the verdict was announced.

However, there are two fugitives who have been sentenced to life imprisonment. Besides, one of the accused is a minor and his case is pending in the Juvenile Court. According to the summary of the case, some people from the same area were having a dispute with Tajul Islam, a farmer from Noagaon village in Katiadi Upazila of Kishoreganj, over a previous land dispute.

Due to this, on the afternoon of January 1, 2001, on the north side of the Sidalchar canal, the accused attacked Tajul Islam with domestic weapons. Tajul Islam was killed on the spot in the attack.

Mala Begum, daughter of the deceased, filed a murder case against 16 people at Katiadi police station. After investigation, the police filed a charge sheet in the court on May 19, 2011. After a long hearing, the court announced the verdict today.
