Bangladesh's foreign policy will not change even if BJP comes to power in West Bengal

News Desk: State Minister for Foreign Affairs Shama Obaid Islam has said that even if the BJP comes to power after defeating the Trinamool Congress in India's West Bengal, there will be no change in Bangladesh's foreign policy.

He told reporters after the sixth session of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) conference at Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on Tuesday (May 5). Before this, he participated in the session on the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

In response to a question from journalists, Shama Obaid said that India's election is their internal matter. Bangladesh's foreign policy will remain the same in all areas. The foreign policy of the country is being conducted on the basis of 'Bangladesh first' policy. Whatever government comes to India, there will be no change in the foreign policy of Bangladesh.

He said, in the light of their own foreign policy, Bangladesh will advance relations with all countries on the basis of discussion and compromise.

When asked about what was discussed in the DC conference, the state minister said, when we talk about illegal immigration, if we have to stop them, our citizens-Bangladeshis who are in the hands of various brokers are in danger abroad, many times they are dying. If we have to prevent these, then our District Administrators have a big role to play in awareness building, to create a social awakening, so that our common people do not fall into the hands of these brokers, they also have a role to play. All of them have been discussed.

Calling upon the District Administrators to discuss any suggestion, the State Minister said that we have been told by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that if the District Administrators want to discuss, share, give any advice with us at any time, we are open to them. Their communication with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs is open, they can come and talk to us anytime. And communication is there, we always have communication with Ministry of External Affairs at DC level and even at Upazila level.
