DHAKA, June 28 (CNI): Prime Minister's Foreign Affairs Adviser Humayun Kabir on Sunday held talks with an international climate delegation on expanding cooperation in renewable energy, green investment, carbon credits and sustainable development.
The discussions took place during a courtesy meeting at the adviser's office in Dhaka.
The delegation was led by Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), former United Nations Under-Secretary-General, and former Norwegian Minister of Environment and International Development.
Also present was Kavin Kumar Kandasami, founder and Chief Executive Officer of ProClime, an international climate entrepreneur working on carbon markets, climate finance, biochar and sustainable development initiatives across South Asia.
Prime Minister's Special Assistant on Environment, Forest and Climate Change Dr Saimum Parvez also attended the meeting.
The two sides discussed prospects for strengthening cooperation between Bangladesh and international partners in addressing climate change, environmental conservation, carbon credit mechanisms, green investment, renewable energy and sustainable development.
They expressed optimism about Bangladesh's potential for climate-resilient development and environmentally sustainable investment, while reaffirming their interest in expanding cooperation in these priority areas.
