The President of Italy praised the extraordinary success of Bangladesh

News Desk: Italian President Sergio Matterrela praised Bangladesh's extraordinary success. Newly appointed Bangladesh Ambassador to the country. He praised Shamim Ahsan while presenting his identity card. The ambassador presented his credentials to the President at a stylish ceremony held at the Quirinal Palace, the official residence of the President in Rome, Italy.

The Bangladesh Embassy in Rome reported this information on Saturday (March 7). In a private meeting held after presenting the credentials, the President of Italy warmly congratulated the new Ambassador of Bangladesh. At the same time, he assured all-out cooperation in the discharge of his duties. The Ambassador expressed his sincere gratitude to the President and at the same time the President of Bangladesh.

Abdul Hamid and Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina conveyed greetings. During the meeting, the Ambassador briefed the Italian President on Bangladesh's development journey led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina.

The Ambassador said Bangladesh is recognized all over the world as a 'role model' for developing countries due to its remarkable achievements in development. Noting that he was aware of Bangladesh's remarkable achievements in various fields, Italian President Mattarella stressed the need to further strengthen bilateral ties in the coming days. He termed the expatriate Bangladeshis living in Italy as hard workers and praised their contribution to the country's economy.

The Ambassador recently thanked the Italian Government for including Bangladesh in the Flucy Decree. The Fluency Decree allows citizens of non-EU countries to come to Italy for seasonal and non-seasonal work. In response to the Ambassador's thanks for Italy's constructive stance on the Rohingya issue at the UN and other international forums, the Italian President praised Bangladesh for providing shelter to about 1.1 million Rohingya refugees.

During Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's visit to Italy in February 2020, both sides expressed satisfaction over the decision taken to jointly celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries in 2022.

Noting that the bilateral relations are getting stronger and closer, Ambassador Ahsan on behalf of the President of Bangladesh invited the President of Italy to visit Bangladesh. Earlier, the ambassador reached the Quirinal Palace from Bangladesh House in a motorcade. At the time of his departure, a smart contingent of the Presidential Regiment gave him the Guard of Honor.

The Ambassador was accompanied by his wife Pandora Chowdhury, Embassy Counselor (Political) Sikder Mohammad Ashrafur Rahman, Counselor (Labor Welfare). Erfanul Haque and senior Italian government officials were present.

The professional diplomat said. Before Italy, Shamim Ahsan served as Bangladesh's High Commissioner to Nigeria. He has also held various positions in the Bangladesh Mission and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in New York, Washington DC, Rome, Nairobi, Doha, and Kuwait.
