The Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BAJUS) has once again decided to raise gold prices in the domestic market. In less than 12 hours, the price of 22-carat gold per bhori (11.664 grams) has been increased by BDT 4,082, bringing it to BDT 259,699.
BAJUS announced this in a statement on Saturday (31 January), with the new prices effective from Sunday (1 February).
The statement explained that the price of pure gold (tejabi gold) has risen, prompting the adjustment.
According to the new rates:
22-carat gold: BDT 259,699 per bhori
21-carat gold: BDT 247,918 per bhori
18-carat gold: BDT 212,518 per bhori
Traditional method gold: BDT 173,910 per bhori
The notice also mentioned that the sale price of gold must include the government-mandated 5% VAT and BAJUS-determined minimum labor charge of 6%, though the labor component may vary depending on jewelry design and quality.
Previously, on the morning of 31 January, BAJUS had adjusted gold prices downward. The 22-carat gold price per bhori had been reduced by BDT 15,746 to BDT 255,617. Other previous rates were:
21-carat: BDT 244,011
18-carat: BDT 209,136
Traditional: BDT 171,869
This marks the 19th adjustment of gold prices in the country this year, with 14 increases and 5 decreases. In 2025, gold prices were adjusted 93 times: 64 increases and 29 decreases.
Meanwhile, silver prices in the domestic market remain unchanged. As of 31 January morning rates:
22-carat silver: BDT 7,290 per bhori
21-carat: BDT 6,940 per bhori
18-carat: BDT 5,949 per bhori
Traditional: BDT 4,432 per bhori
So far this year, silver prices have been adjusted 14 times, with 9 increases and 5 decreases. In 2025, silver prices were adjusted 13 times: 10 increases and 3 decreases.
