News Desk: Prime Minister Tareque Rahman's visit to Beijing has elevated Bangladesh-China relations into a long-term comprehensive strategic partnership, according to Prime Minister's Adviser Mahdi Amin. The spokesperson for the Prime Minister's Office said that the Prime Minister's historic state visit to China has transformed bilateral ties into a unique and multidimensional partnership.
Speaking at a press conference held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in central Beijing on Friday (June 26) at 2:00 p.m. local time (12:00 p.m. Bangladesh time), Mahdi Amin shared details of the Prime Minister's China visit.
The adviser stated that during the short visit, Prime Minister Tareque Rahman held separate meetings with China's three most influential leaders—President Xi Jinping, Premier Li Qiang, and Zhao Leji, Chairman of the Standing Committee of the National People's Congress (NPC). The high-level discussions established that the foundation of the historical relationship between the two countries will be built on mutual trust, respect, cooperation, and the protection of each nation's core interests.
Mahdi Amin announced that following bilateral discussions, a total of 17 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) were signed with the approval of the leaders of both countries. Among them, 13 were ministry-to-ministry agreements, three were signed between the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority (BIDA) and various Chinese stakeholders, and one was signed between the ruling political parties of the two countries. In addition, a 16-point Joint Declaration is being prepared based on the outcomes of the visit.
