Staff Correspondent: A high-level discussion, award ceremony, publication launch and networking event focusing on the contribution of Non-Resident Bangladeshi scientists to the development of Bangladesh’s biotechnology and biosimilar pharmaceutical sector will be held today at 3:00 pm at The Westin Dhaka.
The event, titled Global Health Summit 2026, is being jointly organised by Business America Magazine, Arthokontho and NRB World. Renowned scientists, pharmaceutical entrepreneurs, researchers, policymakers, academics, physicians, investors and innovators from home and abroad are expected to attend the summit.
The theme of this year’s summit is “Role of Non-Resident Bangladeshi Scientists in the Development of Biotech and Biosimilar Medicines in Bangladesh’s Pharmaceutical Industry.”
Internationally acclaimed scientist and researcher Professor Dr. M. Nasir Uddin, PhD, FAHA, Professor and Research Director at Texas A&M University College of Medicine, USA, will present the keynote paper. He will speak on the future prospects of Bangladesh’s biotechnology and biosimilar industry, research collaboration, innovation and global partnership opportunities.
One of the major attractions of the summit will be a special panel discussion titled “Biotechnology and Biosimilar Innovation.” National and international experts will discuss the opportunities, challenges, research progress, international cooperation and investment prospects in this emerging sector.
According to the organisers, Dr. M. A. Mukit, MP, State Minister for Health and Family Welfare, will attend the inaugural session as the chief guest. Yasser Khan Chowdhury, MP, State Minister for Information and Broadcasting, will attend the closing session as the chief guest.
On the occasion, a special publication titled “Bangladesh’s 100 Healthcare Titans” will be unveiled. The publication highlights the success stories of distinguished individuals and institutions that have made significant contributions to the country’s healthcare sector.
The Global Health Awards 2026 will also be presented in recognition of outstanding contributions to science, healthcare, innovation, leadership, research, the pharmaceutical industry and industrial development.
The organisers said the summit is expected to play an important role in strengthening international cooperation, promoting knowledge exchange, attracting investment and accelerating research-based innovation. They also expressed hope that the event would help further consolidate Bangladesh’s position in the global biotechnology and biosimilar pharmaceutical sector.
Distinguished guests at the event include Dr. M. A.
