News Desk: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has held a meeting with Chinese Prime Minister Li Qiang. Following the meeting, two agreements and 13 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) regarding cooperation in various fields were signed between the two countries.
On Thursday (June 25) at 5:00 PM local time, when Tarique Rahman arrived at the historic Great Hall of the People in Beijing, China, via a motorcade from the state guest house, the Chinese Prime Minister welcomed him.
Li Qiang escorted Tarique Rahman across the red carpet to the greeting dais. A smart, well-decorated contingent of the Chinese Armed Forces presented an armed salute.
During this time, the national anthems of both countries were played. A gun salute was fired to greet Prime Minister Tarique Rahman. Later, the two Prime Ministers inspected the parade of the armed forces.
Following the meeting, in the presence of both Prime Ministers, two agreements and 13 MoUs concerning cooperation in various sectors were signed between Bangladesh and China.
On the same day, the Prime Minister held meetings with heads of various Chinese business enterprises. He also joined the discussions at the Bangladesh Investment Forum, organized by the Bangladesh Investment Development Authority and the Bangladesh Embassy.
Apart from the Chinese Prime Minister, the Prime Minister has separate programs today with ministers and policymakers from various ministries of the country. Following this, a bilateral meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping is scheduled for Friday. The head of government is expected to depart for Dhaka on the same day after concluding the state programs.
Earlier, after wrapping up the World Economic Forum conference in China's Dalian province, Prime Minister Tarique Rahman reached Beijing by bullet train on Wednesday (June 24) afternoon. He was received right on the station platform, where he was accorded a red-carpet reception and a guard of honor.
Throughout Wednesday, Tarique Rahman attended various official programs in Dalian, including the annual conference of the World Economic Forum. More than 1,700 delegates from over 90 countries and regions—comprising political, business, academic, and media figures—participated in this year's conference. On the sidelines, the Prime Minister also held meetings with heads of state and government from various countries, including Kazakhstan.
