News Desk: Bangladesh has described India's explanation regarding the incident involving Prime Minister Tarique Rahman’s adviser, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, at Delhi Airport as “unsatisfactory,” calling the episode both “unfortunate and regrettable.”
When asked about comments made by the spokesperson of India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the spokesperson for Bangladesh’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs told BSS today that the explanation provided by the Indian side was not satisfactory.
He stated that the Indian authorities had been formally informed through diplomatic channels in advance that Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman would lead the Bangladeshi delegation at a meeting of the Indian Ocean Rim Association (IORA).
“Despite being informed beforehand, the incident that occurred with him at Delhi Airport was unfortunate and regrettable,” the Spokesperson said.
Earlier this month, Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman was scheduled to lead Bangladesh’s delegation to an IORA meeting. However, he was reportedly prevented from continuing his journey at Delhi Airport.
Responding to a question regarding comments made by India’s Ministry of External Affairs concerning minorities in Bangladesh, the Foreign Ministry spokesperson said that Bangladesh believes every state has an equal responsibility to ensure the rights and security of all citizens living within its territory, particularly members of minority communities.
He reiterated that the Government of Bangladesh remains committed to protecting the rights and ensuring the security of all citizens, including those belonging to minority groups.
