Section 144 has been issued in Basurhat of Noakhali

News Desk: The local administration on Monday banned all kinds of rallies in Noakhali's Basurhat municipal area due to a retaliatory program called by supporters of Mayor Abdul Quader Mirza and former Upazila chairman Mizanur Rahman Badal. Meanwhile, Abdul Quader Mirza, the mayor and younger brother of Awami League general secretary and bridge minister Obaidul Quader, wanted to hold a mourning rally at Rupali Chattar in the municipal area at 2.30 pm over the murder of journalist Burhan Uddin.

A section of Awami League led by Mizanur Rahman, organizing secretary of Kompaniganj Upazila Awami League and former chairman of Upazila Parishad, has already announced to hold a protest rally at the same place at 3 pm. They called the rally in protest of Quader Mirza's 'lies' with the party's central leaders, including Obaidul Quader.

Supporters of Quader Mirza and Mizanur Rahman clashed last Friday (February 19th). Company Bangladesh Upazila Representative Borhan Uddin Muzakki of Daily Bangladesh Samachar and online news portal Barta Bazar were shot while filming the incident.
