Attempted rape on a moving bus in Sylhet: The college student admitted in Osmani

News Desk: The college student who jumped from the Sylhet-bound Sunamganj-bound Diraigami moving bus to escape rape has been admitted to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital.

His relatives admitted him to Osmani at midnight on Sunday. Doctors said he suffered serious head and hand injuries. Meanwhile, the girl's father has filed a case against the bus driver, his assistant and three others under the Women and Child Abuse Prevention Act. The bus driver and his assistants tried to rape the college student on a moving bus in Dirai on Sunday evening. He jumped out of the bus window to escape the rape.

The girl, a resident of Dirai municipal area, is a graduate student of Dirai Government College. He was returning to his home in Dirai by bus from his sister's house in Lamakazi area of ​​Sylhet. Her sister-in-law brought the college student to Osmani Hospital on Sunday night. “I picked him up on the bus from Lamakazi at noon,” he said. The bus became empty before reaching Dirai bus stand in the evening. The driver and helper tried to rape her.

He jumped out of the bus window to save his life. Then the bus increased its speed and went to the bus stand. "Two locals rescued my sister-in-law from the spot and admitted her to Dirai Hospital," he said. As his condition was serious, we brought him to Osmani on the advice of the doctors there. Abdul Mukit Mukul, joint secretary of Sylhet Bus Owners Association, rushed to Sylhet MAG Osmani Medical College Hospital at midnight on hearing the news.

He said the incident that happened on the moving bus was very nasty. Such an incident has never happened before in Sylhet division. It’s a shame for the whole transportation world. "People have bad ideas about us," he said. Now after such incidents people will think us worse. So we want to arrest the culprits quickly and ensure exemplary punishment. We will co-operate with the police to catch those responsible.

The driver and helpers of a Fahad and Maisha Paribahan bus (Sylhet-J-11-0623) plying from Sylhet to Dirai in Sunamganj tried to rape the college student.

After the incident, locals blocked the road in Dirai demanding the arrest of those involved in the night. Sunamganj Superintendent of Police (SP) said. Mizanur Rahman told Jago News on Sunday morning that the student's father had filed a case under the Women and Child Abuse Act accusing the bus driver and his assistant.
