BNP decides to hold protest rallies across the country on Dec 30

CNI Desk: BNP has decided to hold protest rallies across the country, including in the capital, on December 30 marking the second anniversary of the 11th parliamentary election.

Besides, the party leaders and activists all over the country will wear black badges while black flags will be hoisted atop all of its party offices, including Naya Paltan central one, the same day to register the party's protest against the 30 December national election held in 2018.

BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir announced the programmes at a press conference at the party's Naya Paltan central office on Monday (December 21).

 

Terming 30 December as 'black day', Fakhrul said, “We've decided to hold protest rallies across the country on the day demanding reelection annulling the 30 December voting.

Only BNP secretary general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir, among eight MP-elect from their alliance under the banner of Jatiya Oikya Front, did not take oath of office.

Later, the election commission declared the Bogura-six seat vacant and arranged by-election to the constituency on 24 June.

Golam Mohammad Sirajul Islam contested the by-polls with BNP's ticket and got elected MP and subsequently took oath of office.

BNP bagged six seats while Gono Forum two in the election.
