News desk:  BNP has already announced boycotting the upazila parishad elections to be held on May 8 in continuation of boycotting parliamentary elections under the current government. This time the party leaders and workers who had collected the nomination form to participate in the election have been ordered to withdraw their nominations and abstain from voting.

BNP leaders say that even though BNP boycotted the polls on a party basis, 40 to 45 candidates of the Trinamool party remained in the polls. The organizing secretary of the party requested to withdraw their nomination. After that he was ordered to withdraw from the central office of the party. Many have already withdrawn their nominations. BNP expects the rest to withdraw next Sunday.

In this context, BNP Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi said, our organizational secretaries are working at the district-upazila level. I am also calling from the center and talking to the candidates. Many have already withdrawn their nominations. Now there are not many activists in the polls.

He also said that one of Natore was arrested after withdrawing his nomination.

An organizational secretary of BNP said on the condition of anonymity, "In fact, since there is no party symbol in this election, we should have gone to the polls." By doing this, the organizational strength of the Trinamool party increased around election activities.

He also said that those who had participated in the polls had been instructed by the higher levels of the party to withdraw. Accordingly, the leaders participating in the polls are requested to call and withdraw their nominations. After that, those who remain in the election may be expelled from the party. However, this will damage the organizational strength of the party.
