Martyred Intellectuals Day celebrated in Barisal

Barisal Correspondent: Martyred Intellectuals' Day has been observed by laying wreaths at the city's Martyred Freedom Fighters Memorial Nameplate Pillar in due course.

On Monday morning, Panel Mayor Gazi Naimul Hossain Litu, Advocate Rafiqul Islam Khokon and other officials of the city corporation paid their deep respects to the martyred intellectuals on behalf of Barisal City Corporation Mayor Serniabat Sadiq Abdullah at the Shaheed Muktijoddha Name Pillar on the district administration road. Later, Barisal District Awami League General Secretary and former Member of Parliament Advocate Talukder Md Yunus handed over the wreaths to the leaders and workers of the district Awami League. Immediately after this, the leaders and workers of the Metropolitan Awami League led by the President of the Metropolitan Awami League Advocate AKM Jahangir Hossain laid wreaths. Besides, BNP leaders and workers led by Zia Uddin Sikder, acting general secretary of Mahanagar BNP, laid wreaths.

On the same day, Bipin Chandra Biswas, Executive Officer of Gournadi Upazila Nirbahi Officer's Office, presided over the discussion.
