Savar Correspondent: On 14 December 1971, Savar and Ashulia were liberated in exchange for the blood of the young freedom fighter Golam Dastagir Tito.

At 12 noon on Monday, the local journalists paid their respects at the graveyard of the fearless young freedom fighter like every year on Savar Liberation Day. At this time a minute's silence was observed for the forgiveness of the soul of martyr Tito. However, the journalists who came to pay their respects expressed their grief and frustration over the untidy and neglected condition of Tito's grave. Moniruzzaman, a senior journalist, said Tito was martyred on the day of Savar's liberation. We journalists have been remembering Tito for 10 long years. But no initiative has been taken by the administration to celebrate Savar Free Day. It's so sad! Mozaffar Hossain, Dhaka district sub-bureau representative of Samay Television, said, "The local administration is not paying attention to the tomb of these heroic martyrs of independence.

Last year, we paid our respects by washing and cleaning Tito's tomb." The administration and political leaders were also informed then. But even after one year, dust and sand have remained in the tomb of the heroic son of the nation. Therefore, I am seeking the attention of the concerned including the administration in this regard.

It may be mentioned that on 30 December 1999, the then Army Chief Lieutenant General Muhammad Mustafizur Rahman unveiled the tombstone of Shaheed Tito at Dairy Gate area adjacent to Dhaka-Aricha Highway in Savar.
