Victory Day holiday announced at Akhaura land port

Hasan Jabed from Brahmanbaria: A one-day holiday has been declared at Akhaura land port in Brahmanbaria on the occasion of Great Victory Day. As a result, the export of goods to India through this port will be closed on Wednesday (December 16).

In addition, to prevent coronavirus infection, the general passenger crossing activities in India through Akhaura International Immigration Checkpost has been closed since March 12. Shafiqul Islam, general secretary of the Akhaura Land Port Importers and Exporters Association, said the export of goods would be closed on Wednesday on the occasion of Victory Day. The matter has been brought to the notice of Indian traders. Export of goods will continue as usual from Thursday (December 16). Akhaura Land Port is one of the largest and 100% export oriented land ports in the country.

Through this port, various products including fish, cement, plastic, edible oil and food items are exported to the city of Agartala in the Indian state of Tripura. These products were later supplied from Agartala to the northeastern states of the country.
