News Desk: Jatiya Party Chairman Golam Mohammad Quader has expressed concern that the situation in Bangladesh may be similar to that in Sri Lanka. He said Sri Lanka has many similarities with Bangladesh. Bangladesh and Sri Lanka receive remittances from abroad and earn from tourism. The two countries also earn from the garment industry. Sri Lanka did not go bankrupt because of the Corona or Ukraine wars. Sri Lanka has been in civil war for almost ten years. Sri Lanka has not yet gone bankrupt. Sri Lanka has gone bankrupt to repay foreign loans. He said this while addressing a memorial meeting and prayer meeting on the occasion of the third death anniversary of former Jatiya Party chairman Hussain Mohammad Ershad on Thursday. "The budget we are making also depends on debt," Quader said. So I have asked the government to reduce the management cost but there is no initiative. Again, thousands of crores of rupees are being spent to entertain for no reason. He said the government could not collect the full tax even last year. But this time the situation will be worse if ordinary people cannot pay taxes. The government is implementing big mega projects with foreign loans. When you have to repay the loan with interest, the situation of the country will become very bad. If a mega project is implemented with a loan of Tk 30,000 crore and from there it earns Tk 365 crore a year at the rate of Tk 1 crore per day, then it will take 90 years to pay only the original. Again you have to pay interest money. Sri Lanka has gone bankrupt while repaying the loan with interest. There is no money in the country's banks due to debt dependence. If the operating expenses are not reduced, the salary will have to be paid by taking a loan from the bank. That is why the situation in the country can be like Sri Lanka. Meanwhile, Jatiya Party chairman Golam Mohammad Quader said looting was going on in the country in the name of mega projects. Thousands of crores of rupees are being smuggled out of the country every year. So far the government has not admitted to money laundering. Now it has come up with ways to legalize the thousands of crores of rupees earned illegally in exchange for taxes.
