Two killed in truck-motorcycle collision at Lalmonirhat Hatibandha

Mostafizur Rahman, Lalmonirhat: A motorcyclist named Narul Islam (65) was killed when he was hit by a truck at Barakhata in Hatibandha upazila of Lalmonirhat. Another rider Sirajul Islam (59) was seriously injured and was rushed to Hatibandha Health Complex. Nurul Islam, a motorcyclist, was killed on the spot when a speeding truck loaded with stones from Burimari hit the motorcycle in front of him on the Lalmonirhat-Burimari highway at around 1.30pm on Wednesday (June 15). The deceased was identified as Nurul Islam, son of late Akbar Ali of Gaddimari village in Gaddimari union of the upazila. And the injured Sirajul Islam son of Azizar Rahman of East Sardubi village of Barkhata Union. According to eyewitnesses, the stone dropped from Burimari meant that he was hit by a Dhaka-bound truck, fell off the motorcycle, fell on the highway and fell under the wheel of the truck and was crushed to death. The two motorcyclists were going from Barakhata to Hatibandha. Hatibandha Highway Police Officer-in-Charge Abdul Hakim Azad said the deadly truck and its driver Helpa were arrested in the incident. On the other hand, a woman named Rahima Begum (60) was hit by a motorcycle at the bus stand in front of the central Jame Mosque of the upazila on the same day and died on the way to Rangpur Medical College Hospital. When the motorcyclist Sipon was injured, he was admitted to Hatibandha Upazila Health Complex. The deceased were identified as Rahima Begum, wife of late Habibullah Miah of Hatibandha Dak Bungalow area and mother of Nayan, owner of Shah Garibullah Hotel and Restaurant.
