Voting was held peacefully in Bhujpur of Fatikchhari

Jipon Uddin, Chittagong: Voting is going on in Bhujpur Union Parishad (UP) elections of Chittagong Fatikchhari Upazila. Voting begins at 8 a.m. Wednesday (June 15). It will continue till 4 pm. Electronic voting machine (EVM) is being used for the first time in Fatikchhari. Voters are coming to cast their votes ignoring the rain. Voter turnout since morning was eye-popping. Voter turnout increased as the day progressed but voter turnout was lower in the afternoon. Fatikchhari Upazila Election Officer Debashish Das said polling was going on peacefully in Bhujpur Union of the upazila. There is 1 Judicial Magistrate and 3 Executive Magistrates. Besides, members of police, Ansar and village defense forces are also on duty. I hope the election will be fair. According to the Election Officer's Office, the total number of voters in 9 wards of Bhujpur UP is 25,160. Total 10 polling stations. In the election, there are 3 chairman candidates including boat candidates. Eleven candidates are contesting for the reserved women member post and 54 for the general member post. Chairman candidates are Ibrahim Talukder (Boat), Nasir Uddin Munshi (Auto Rickshaw), Shahjahan Chowdhury Shipon (Pineapple). This time there were more female voters than male voters. About 40 per cent votes were cast in most of the centers till 1 pm. However, for the first time, voting in EVM took a little longer.
