News Desk: There will be no seating service and gate lock service in Dhaka metropolitan area, said Enayet Ullah, secretary general of Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association. He also said that there will be no more buses in the capital.

This was stated by the secretary general of the owners' association at a press conference on Wednesday afternoon at the office of the organization on Kazi Nazrul Islam Avenue in the capital.

He said that no bus will run through any kind of seating service and webil. We will give three days time, after which if any gatelock and seating service bus runs, strict action will be taken against them.

The press conference was organized by Bangladesh Road Transport Owners Association and Bangladesh Road Transport Workers Federation on bus fare rescheduling and current situation.

Enayet Ullah said that for the last few days, discussions and criticisms have been going on on various television channels about rescheduling bus and minibus fares. It is said that 80-90 percent of Dhaka and long distance buses and minibuses are CNG powered. It is alleged that the buses were being overcharged. But we have found 198 buses of only 13 out of 120 companies CNG powered in Dhaka metropolitan area. This is only 3.26 percent of the total public transport.

Over the last few years, the bus owners' association has introduced a system called Webil as a strategy to collect extra fares in the capital.

Webil is a system where if a passenger wants to go from Mirpur to Shahbag, he has to pay road fare to Gulistan.
