Awami League general secretary Obaidul Quader has said that people get smiles when they talk about corruption. "People also make fun of the moral standards of these self-confessed corrupt parties," he said.

He made the remarks while participating in the handing over of an ambulance to the Gaussian Committee for Transport of Corona Patients and Corpses and distribution of Corona Safety Materials in Chittagong on Saturday (July 31) organized by the Awami League's Relief and Social Welfare Sub-Committee on Bangabandhu Avenue in the capital.

Asked by BNP leaders, Quader said, "During their rule, did they show the courage to take action against any recognized corrupt leader-MP-minister?" Sheikh Hasina has shown that she has courage. No matter how big the irregularities and misdeeds are, the Sheikh Hasina government has not given concessions to anyone. '

The bridge minister said, "Sheikh Hasina's government is very strict against corruption and irregularities, which she has already proved."

On the other hand, the Awami League general secretary said that corruption and misdeeds had spread beyond the country's borders to the international arena during the BNP's rule. Their rule and corruption became synonymous. '

Obaidul Quader said it is natural for those who did not have any courage and ability to implement mega-projects to be jealous of mega-projects. The BNP's vision was to extort and loot by constructing Hawa Bhaban as an alternative center of power. '

He said, "The BNP has proved that the BNP is an organization of self-confessed corrupt people by omitting Article 7 from their constitution." The BNP has now taken the form of a propaganda party, they have chosen lies and the continuing resentment against the government as a tool to cover up their inability to stand by the helpless people.

Thanking the Relief and Social Welfare Subcommittee for taking the initiative to hand over ambulances and distribute Corona safety supplies, Obaidul Quader said, "Let us all work together under the leadership of a humane and visionary leader Sheikh Hasina to protect the countrymen from the Corona epidemic."

Mentioning that Bangabandhu's soul will get peace if he stands by the side of helpless and toiling people across the country on the instructions of party president and prime minister Sheikh Hasina in mourning August, Obaidul Quader told the party leaders and workers, "We have to stand by the people affected by this catastrophe."

"Apart from corona, dengue is also a problem now," he said, urging those concerned to take necessary steps in this regard.

Awami League presidium member Jahangir Kabir Nanak presided over the function while Awami League organizing secretary Advocate Afzal Hossain, relief and social welfare secretary Sujit Roy Nandi, central executive member Reazul Kabir Kausar, Syed Abdul Awal Shamim and leaders of Dhaka Metropolitan South Awami League also spoke.

Gaussia Committee leaders including Chittagong South District Awami League General Secretary Mofizur Rahman were virtually present on the occasion. Later, the leaders distributed leaflets to the public on corona protection materials and awareness raising.
